I was up at Ally Pally today, watching it being turned into the orange-everywhere Heineken House. I had a chat with some of the staff. Most are volunteers who are over here for between three and six weeks. Annemarie, for example, who was filling me on on what'll be going on up on the hill is a manager for Rabbobank and has taken five weeks leave to help out at Heineken House.
It sounds like it'll be quite a little pop-up community. They'll even be publishing their own paper. I hope to make a good connection with the PR team there so I can feed in dribs and drabs of what's up as we go through the Olympics period.
In the meantime, here's a virtual tour round Heineken House.

Sorry, didn't intend to invade your turf - just thought I may be able to add rather more texture. Enjoy.
I've a suggestion for your Dutch journalist acquaintance (its a little tenuous but its in theme).
Hornsey Town Hall was designed by Christchurch (New Zealand) architect Reginald Uren and was used until the mid-sixties, until the forced marriage with Haringey. Thereupon began a long period of running it down, culminating in a shabby attempt to flog it off.
Hilversum is the Netherlands' media city as most broadcasters are based there.
Hornsey Town Hall, our nearby, Grade II STAR listed art deco masterpiece, was influenced by the Hilversum Town Hall in Holland. There's a strong resemblance.
Really pleased to have the Dutch in Ally Pally. Holland Heineken House are tweeting on @heineken_house. In Dutch.
