I've a terrible signal for my set-top box, installed about 2 months ago. I'm on the ladder - Salisbury Road. About 18 months ago I got the rooftop aerial replaced and assume that's all well up there. The set-top worked very well when first intalled but the 'no signal' interruptions are now constant and last for up to 45 seconds. Basically the TV is unwatchable.
I got the cheapest set top from Argos, is this likely to be the problem? or is it likely to be the aerial?
Thanks for any help you can give!

Is your aerial pointing north ( Alexandra Palace ) or south ( Crystal Palace ) ?
Sounds though as if water may have got into the downlead or aerial.
When you tune to a station does the screen show signal strength ?
Not sure which way it's facing I'll check tonight! I was hoping it wouldn't come down to a ladder job. No it doesn't automatically show signal strength. I guess that would make sense becasue of all the wet weather. Better get a bloke with a ladder.
Thanks John really appreciate the steer.
I had this problem when I lived on Duckett Road - I fixed it by purchasing a signal booster like this.
Good luck!
See this thread that came up a couple of months ago/
I've been very impressed by the Optima DA4 which did a great job when we were in a flat with terrible reception.
Have you done a forced retune/reset? Before you pay to get someone around can you borrow another box to determine whether it is a problem with the ariel or box itself - you often get what you pay for.
That's a good suggestion -- I think a few things it's worth trying, in order, are:
The problem may be one, some or none of the above! Good luck...
