Melange - New French-Italian restaurant opening in Crouch End

Melange, a French-Italian restaurant, is opening in the old Banger Bros premises diagonally oposite the Queens pub, in Crouch End.

The owners decribe the restaurtant as having "a stylish contemporary twist in a versatile industry-vintage interior".

The menu will be mixed French and Italian.

More as I find out more.

Be interesting to see how it does. There was a really nice Mediterranean place in there for a few years, N8 I think it was called and years before it was a fish and chip shop but nothing seems to last in that unit for some reason.

Hope the people serve some decent food there!

There was a brilliant Malaysian restaurant there some 10-15 years ago! Where have they gone?

We will try them out and report back!

Good luck!

We were in the restaurant on Friday. Rather pleased with it, actually!

It was busy. We were given a glass of champagne each as it was their opening evening!

Lovely!

The food was really good; surprisingly not expensive! Mediterranean king prawns were huge, fresh and tasty! And the 10 oz rib eye steak was really tender and juicy! Sea Bass was nicely done! Home made tiramisu was just the perfect desert to finish off the meal!

4 of us; 3 course, beer and coffee came to £20 each! Could have been less but we had quite a few beer each!!! Ha! Ha!

We will be going back; hope they keep to that high standard of cooking!

And the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Well done! Welcome to CE!!!

The whiteboard was actually a screen for the overhead projector, showing clips of Charlie Chaplin movies! Nice touch, silent clips, so not disturbing! Good laugh!

what is the name of the place? do they have a website? and do we know anything about the owners/chef?

just wondering if worth venturing out to, am not a crouch-ender myself...

cheers

The name is the first word in my original post Katrina. I haven't been able to find website.

I was told by the manageress that the chef/owner started at Marco Piero's White Mirabelle and since then, at Strada and finally @ Cote.

Enjoy!

I've heard more good things about this place from elsewhere. Anyone else been yet?

We have been back twice; and can still say that the food is lovely! Totally enjoyed the steak! Could do with more sauce.....guess we should have asked for more!

I was told by the manageress that they will do "specials" during the week............got to head down and try again.

Is it me or does Sebastian seem particularly excited about this  place? It was empty on Sunday, we gave it a swerve and went to Blue Legume instead which was packed and just lovely.

Thanks for letting us know of Blue Legume............will try it out!

Regards
