Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Does anybody know of a local plumber that can come out for a small job: my 'float arm' isn't turning off the water properly in the toilet cistern. Suspect I need a new unit to be fitted.

Thanks in advance,

Stuart

Adjust nut on the arm of the float until the float settles further down inside the cistern
Hi Matt,

Thanks for getting back. No, I've fiddled every which way with it - I changed some piping and an isolating valve earlier and in doing so I knocked the mechanism inside the cistern out of whack.

I need a professional to come round and drink tea and fix it...
Stewart, try here and here
Hi Stuart,

I had that problem a while back, I picked up a new mechanism from Homebase and changed it myself, it took me a couple of attempts as I didn't pick up the right mechanism but I managed and I am not a diy expert
Many thanks to everyone that helped on this. Problem(s) fixed thanks to the rather wonderful Claudine...

Have you got her contact details - this is at least her second mention on the site (see here, in a discussion which ends up being about English not plumbing), but neither have info on how to contact here!

We also have a very irritating toilet flush problem - a dual flush fitting that tends to leak a steady stream of water, with somewhat defies the point of the water saving of the dual flush. I tried the Homebase approach, but couldn't find a fitting the right size for the cistern.

Thanks,

Michael

Claudine is on the site here, but you'll need to check if she's still working as a plumber.

It seems she might not be available as her page is now private.
