Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Interested to hear from any ladder residents about which schools (if any) they have been able to get a place for at Secondary level?

I will have to apply for my eldest in November this year and it seems we're in a no-man's land, wondering if I'm going to have to move again, ideally don't want to.

Check out what Julie said on the primary schools forum - on the second page. Both her children went to Park View and did really well. Her eldest is now even in proud posession of a first from uni. I don't know Julie, or her kids, but think we need to know that kids can do really well in local schools. It's helping me at any rate!

Julie is a secondary school teacher. Just saying.

HOL posts on primary and secondary school admissions must now have reached sufficient critical mass to start planning a womb to tomb Free HOL School of Lifelong Learning. Think Ally Pally & Park as your main campus so the darlings can learn early to look down on the rest of us. You know they're worth it.

How would you like us to remember you Eddie?

No need for a memorial plaque yet, Matt. When the time comes, just scatter my ashes over NHP's roof garden and Fairland Park. That should keep down those damned daffodils.

Right you are Eddie ... on a grassy knoll of Fairland Park ... next to the flag pole ... hopefully on a fine spring day :)

Is it really the case that our kids are doomed in local state schools? I haven't yet had to do the research but if it is the case it is most depressing.

Well i work at St Thomas more school at wood green, it did have bad publicity a couple of years ago but thanks to the new head teacher the school is on the up.

The school has fantastic sport facilities, art and drama departments and the whole school has been decorated with lots of building work.

Although it is a catholic school non catholics are welcome, it is worth a look at at open days.

Thought I'd resurrect this as I know people will now know what schools they've got their darlings into for September. Interested to hear from anyone who has just gone through the application system, what schools they got.

Our contract is up on our house at the end of July so really need to think about whether we have to go through the mass upheaval again.

Thanks

I live the other side of the ladder and my 12 yr old goes to Gladesmore.  Best school ever!  I've had children at Camden School for Girls and Highbury Fields (used to live in Islington) and rate Gladesmore more highly than both of those.

The only problem with Gladsmore is that they seem to have a lot of time off school, they staff seem to find any excuss to shut the school to pupils.
