I have just heard that squatters now occupy Haringey council's old Environmental Health/Planning building opposite the (destroyed)Jobcentre and Carpetright in Tottenham High Road. Is this true? it is due to be purchased by teh Maor of London to provide employment/business services such as start ups for small businesses. Will council tax payers end up funding expensive and lengthy court proceedings by teh council to remove the squatters?

It's true there are squatters in the building. They love Tottenham.
Good to see that someone is keeping the building warm and dry.
Are they squatters looking for housing or is this an Occupy occupation?
Either way, if the building was going to be left empty for months more, they will be a cheap way of keeping it dry and secure.
Just what the borough needs right now, another small-business start-up building at a time when there are so many empty existing factories in Tottenham. Surely the customer service centre, which was based there, could be reopened instead? Let the Occupy squatters stay there.
