Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I regularly cycle along Black Boy lane; I'd be doing about 18mph & I'd be 3 ft from the parked car. I'm surprised how many times I get overtaken (about 1 in 3). I think the road is too narrow for double white lines as the bus (and other wider traffic) wouldn't be able to use it.

The only solutions I can think of are:

1. Another speed bump (which also slows the cyclist: not great as I'm safer getting up to the speed of the traffic).

2. Double yellow lines, probably not popular with the residents who want to park near their houses.

3. Ban the muppets who overtake from driving.

I'd be interested to know what others think.

Here is a view from the other direction, I often turn right here into Cranleigh Road. I used to indicate and move out almost onto the white line & wait until there is no oncoming traffic but it's a scary maneuver; traffic passing me close on both sides (oncoming vehicles invariably over the line!). Now I stop in the middle of the lane & turn when the coast is clear. It's not really a problem for me except that the traffic behind me has to stop, I'm an experienced cyclist, I wonder how others negotiate the traffic here?

I live just round the corner from here and my children go to Chestnuts so I walk along here twice a day. I have seen cars overtaking buses (not even stopped at the bus stops), cars overtaking other moving cars and cars not stopping at a red light on the pedestrian crossing - utter madness.

I would not try to overtake a bike on this bit of road it's far too narrow.
