Fatal shooting near Turnpike Lane Tube station
A man has been shot dead near a north London Tube station.
Scotland Yard said it was called to reports of a shooting in Langham Parade, near Turnpike Lane Tube station at about 15:30 GMT.
An air ambulance arrived shortly afterwards and a man thought to be in his mid-30s was pronounced dead at the scene, Scotland Yard said.
Police said one person had been arrested and efforts were being made to trace the dead man's next of kin.
Scotland Yard has appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

Man shot dead at Turnpike Lane was 'drug gang chief'
A man shot dead in daylight near a Tube station was the leader of a feared north London drugs gang.
Ali Armagan, 32, head of the Bombacilar (Bombers) gang, was shot repeatedly as he sat in his car outside Turnpike Lane station near Wood Green.
Witnesses claimed he was targeted by two gunmen from the rival Tottenham Boys. The two gangs have been in long-running, bloody competition over the control of drugs in the area.
It is feared the killing could lead to a new explosion of tit-for-tat violence between the gangs, as seen three years ago when there were 11 shootings and three murders.
Armagan, a Turk with Kurdish parents, is one of three brothers alleged to lead the Bombacilar, whose members are mostly aged under 30. The violent gang is notorious for extortion and protection rackets as well as drug dealing.
Posts online from grieving friends indicate more violence could follow. One message, left on a social networking site, read: "From yesterday nothing aint gnna be the same in london f*ck the other side R I P Ali See you heaven older brother love
"Londons gnna get very sticky now that all of this s**t has kiCked off".
Armagan, who has not been formally identified by police, staggered from his car before collapsing near a barber shop at 3.30pm on Wednesday.
A Turkish resident, who asked not to be named, said: "He was the leader. It was about drugs. He has brothers and they are well-known as well."
Turkish gangs in north London control most of the heroin smuggled into Britain, with the Bombacilar and Tottenham Boys fighting for dominance.
In 2009, an argument between two rival gang members in the Manor Club pool hall led to three people being shot dead, including a Holloway shopkeeper killed in a case of mistaken identity.
Such was the fear then of the violence spiralling out of control that armed police were deployed on routine street patrol. Police today said no one has been arrested over Armagan's death.
A post-mortem examination was being carried out.
