Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have a recommendation for someone to take my mum on the bus to charity shops or to the library. She can't wander out on her own as she gets lost and would need to have someone she felt comfortable with and obviously trustworthy. Apparently personal recommendations are best, but I don't know where to start. I'm going to give ageUK a call tomorrow and get some advice, but I was wondering whether anyone knew of someone personally that they could recommend. Many thanks.

When friends had this problem, I went to the newsagents in the road the confused relative lives in, and asked if they knew of anyone (I knew the proprietors of this shop and trusted them).  Amazingly it turned out the wife also worked in the local school and knew someone who supported a disabled child in the school and had all the crb checks etc and was looking for extra work!  So keep on asking round, you never know, and best of luck.

Thanks for your reply Marian. You are right, I should try to make my enquiries more local. It looks like we may have to go the agency route for now, but I will  be keeping my ears open for personal recommendations. We live in the N15 area so  I suppose not really in the catchment for HOL. Good to know we're not alone!
