Hi
I wanted to repost this in case it's been missed by the owner. Smallish, friendly tortoiseshell cat with yellow collar. It's being fed by 2 of my neighbours so seems to be doing OK despite the freezing nights but no doubt would prefer to be tucked up with its owner. Please see previous discussion thread for more details http://www.harringayonline.com/forum/topics/tortoiseshell-cat-with-....

Hi Hannah,
is there any way you can get the cat to a vet to see if it's microchipped? That's a really good first step to see if it can be reunited with it's owner. If the cat is friendly it should be easy to get it in a cat carrier and take it to the vet? I know it's a little bit of an effort, but might solve the whole problem of the possibly homeless little kitty.
Hi Hannah,
My cat went missing a while back so it's probably not her but just in case could you check the picture in the post below?
thanks!
Billie
Hi Billie,
Sorry to hear about your cat. Did she have a yellow collar? I heard on the grapevine that one of the neighbours may be taking it to the vet to be deflead so hopefully it is chipped and find out if it is yours. Will keep you posted.
Hannah
Hi Hannah,
No she didn't have a collar and she's been missing so long it's probably not her.
She is microchipped though so I guess the vet will call if it's her.
I haven't managed to speak to my neighbours yet but will just in case.
Update
This cat is still camping on our door steps. Our neighbour has taken it to the vet and it is a she and she isn't micro-chipped. Billie sorry it' appears not to be yours. My neighbour has also been checking our local streets including Noel Park for lost cat notices and has a lead in that area. The cat seems comfortably ensconced in a box supplied by the neighbour to protect it from the colder nights. Sadly everyone already has cats so not willing to take on a new one.
Do you want me to take the cat to Celia Hammond Animal trust? I have a car and could do that if you like. They re-home all their animals and don't but any strays down. I feel sorry for the cat having to stay outside. Is it friendly?
Sort of, if she wants to be. But then can bite too, I think she put up quite a fight getting to the vet. Next door said they know a sanctuary, so perhaps the same one, which they can take her to.
Has anyone heard if she's ok - haven't seen her with all this snowy weather, bit worried but hoping she's found somewhere warm and safe or a nice home to stay in....I would love to have her but we have two already and not sure they'd take to an addition....I hope she's ok bless her
Maybe we need to get some leaflets out to neighbouring roads as perhaps her owner just doesn't realise she's gone, or they've moved on...shame she's not chipped, I think she's definitely from around the area as recall seeing her a couple of years ago...
I would be happy to print some leaflets if we can agree contact details...and happy to put thru doors, etc. what does everyone else think? Celia Hammond would be a last resort if she's just lost but my sense is her owners have moved on and left her...we have two already and unfortunately no room for any more otherwise would love to as she's very sweet and quite friendly...
mook
I'm a bit uncelar why Celia Hammond would be a "last resort"? Celia does not put any animals down and finds lovely homes for them. Surely finding this poor cat a new home is preferable to her living outside in the cold weather?
I don't think that letting her live on the (cold) streets, whilst people feed her, but fending for herself nontheless, is fair. Have you seen the posts about foxes killing cats? The foxes will be more hungry in this cold weather.
She needs to be rescued and live at a warm cat rescue shelter until she is rehomed, otherwise she is being treated unfairly.
Sorry to be blunt.
I am totally with Sally on this one. I have 3 cats from Celia Hammond, and she does absolutely amazing work. CHAT should not be a last resort, it should be the first port of call for a stray cat especialy in this weather.
I really can't praise Celia and the work she does enough, she's an incredible person who runs an incredible charity, and I would have no problems giving a stray over to them. I'd know it would end up somewhere good. And safe.
