Can anyone recommend a general builder that they have used please

We used Partner Build for a major kitchen renovation--everything was gutted and we started over and knocked out the back wall to the garden.  We're very happy with how it turned out, and I liked dealing with the two guys who run it (Paul and Gregor).  The quality of the work was very high, there was no fooling around trying to patch things that shouldn't be patched, and they were very direct about what they thought was a good idea and a bad idea (some might find them too direct but I appreciated it).  They weren't the cheapest but they weren't the most expensive either, and they stuck to the quote--the only extra costs were things that we added or that couldn't be anticipated (e.g. it turned out we had a dodgy subfloor underneath old lino that needed redoing).  The only thing I wish we'd done differently with them is get a clearer idea of materials costs (which are priced separately) and electrician costs (we'd underestimated these).  I don't have the number to hand but they have a website (www.partner-build.co.uk) and they live nearby.  If you do call them, feel free to tell them Michael recommended them here.

i always recommend Greggor - he has done my flat, all of my friends flats also, with great  results. he is really helpful, and is pretty flexible. His prices are quite reasonable too. his telephone number is: 0788 6862629.

I can recommend Forgewood - www.forgewoodgroup.com. They're a commercial builder starting to build a domestic practice, so you get lots of professionalism.

They did our loft and new bathroom and although there were problems they stuck with the job until we were completely happy - unlike several builders I've used in the past.
