Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Five architectural practices have been shortlisted from over 60 applicants to take part in the design phase of a competition to re-develop the ‘City North Site’ in Finsbury Park.

The site is located adjacent to Finsbury Park Station, and has the potential to act as a catalyst for the regeneration of the wider Finsbury Park area.

The competition brief seeks proposals that will improve the quality of public spaces and provide a range of land uses including residential, retail, offices, conference space, restaurants and cafes.

The architects will present their design proposals to the judging panel, which will include representatives of the promoter (the Business Design Centre Group) and RIBA architect adviser Andrew Taylor, in early April.

I remember when part of the `Parkland Walk` used to be down there.

It was a conservaton area and a well established gay cruising area and as such had a large amount of homophobic attacks and robberies.

Ther were a number of people who bought drugs in the Blackstock Road area going there to take their newly bought drugs.

It took a long time and much public pressure from FOFP and the police for change to come about. This pressure however made the difference once the Park received funding from the Heritage fund.

Things are much much better now.

I dont know who funded the relatively new Cycle Parking establishment at the Stroud Green entrance but I know it is a pilot site and should be applauded for its efficiency and design.
Where is this space, is it in the park itself?
Its been landscaped but it used to run from The Oxford Bridge to The Stroud Green Road entrance
Has your neighbour quietened Peter
This is outrageous, having gained a green open space, tranquil entrance to the Park, do we now have to suffer and watch it concreted over? Who's in charge, Haringey or Islington council?
Wouldn't the money be better spent on funding the Parks Police?
