Fantastic news for Parkview (& Harringay) following their impressive GCSE results today:
Glad they are improving each year.
I have a son who will be entering year 6, Park View & Woodside high will be our nearest option for secondary school. I'd be interested to hear from parents who have their children at either school. Are they happy with the school and the progress made there? Would anyone recommend either school?
Hi Jess, Will be attending the open evening but not sure how much information you can gain from them. It's not like seeing a normal working day. What do you like about Parkview?
Hi Beewan,
I've been a governor there for almost 4 years and have been consistently impressed by the Headteacher and the staff. They are really dedicated to what they do and are caring and ambitious for the students. In academic terms the school is on a steep upward trajectory which is down to the considerable hard work of staff and students.
But in particular, I've enjoyed spending time there. On the days I've spent in the school I've always come away with a real sense of positivity. In general the students seem happy and enjoy learning. They have positive relationships with each other and the staff. The school is incredibly diverse in terms of almost any indicator you look at (ethnicity, socio-economic, language, attainment) and is a real representation of the community in which its based (our community). I think is a shining example of a good and improving community school.
But you should have a look yourself. I would ask if you can visit in the school day. I would also pop along to one of their school events. Most are open to the local community & I think are advertised on their website.
I will make an effort to post future events on here too now that I have joined.
Good luck with the school application process!
