Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Superb fresh produce from Finsbury Park's social enterprise Green Routes

I was in Crouch End yesterday and noticed that the community stall outside Budgens was occupied by an organisation with its roots firmly in our hood.

Mahmoud was selling some just-out-of-the-ground fresh produce from Green Routes. The range  included kale, bok choi, salad greens, nasturtium flowers and chive flowers. It all looked so fresh I could have gathered the whole lot up, bit instead we opted for the bok choi. Sadly we couldn't do its freshness justice last night as we were out, but I look forward to it tonight.

Green Routes is a social enterprise running gardening projects from its site within Finsbury Park (by Manor House gate). It aims to provide real work experience for local residents.

Jeremy Hague, Regional Employment Officer for the Metropolitan Support Trust who are involved in the project, said “At Green Routes we have a real drive to provide volunteering opportunities and linking with local green initiatives and the local community."

This is fantastic. I knew they sold garden plants, but I didn't know they did veg. Anyone know the opening hours?

I mean in Finsbury Park, not outside Budgens!

Try the number above. I spoke with a guy there earlier called Ray. I'm sure he'd know.
