This from an email correspondent:
The recent fire in Grand Parade set some alarm bells ringing for me.
There is a pattern of low income along the main roads in Haringey, including parts of Green Lanes. I assume this means flats or rooms above shops where people are being given temporary accommodation by Haringey, other Boroughs, managing agents and landlords directly.
Recent discoveries in parts of the borough have found families living in poor accomodation with little or no access to services. One recent immigrant family was in the habit of burning rubbish inside their flat.
My fear is that London will at some point have a tragedy like the Paris

Well the UK fire service came out last week saying that a major accident involving fatalities is just waiting to happen around overcrowded immigrant flats set up by greedy landlords. So your fears are it seems well founded.

Which takes us neatly back to the bitingly important issue of Houses in multiple occupation. I know of four being illegally converted today in the three roads nearest me.
