I can confirm that this is the Virgin Active that is being replaced. Such a shame for the area as VA was one of the few London gyms with friendly approachable staff and gym users, and where you dont feel out of place when trying something new. It may not have as great machines and services as other gyms but the atmosphere is so much better. Easy gym although keeping some of the classses will work out alot more expensive for me as its £4 a class. Also it doesnt open for 2 months and I dont want to not have a gym for 2 whole months.

Has anyone tried Fitness First at manor house, i have generally only heard bad reviews of it.

Thanks

Lindsay

Fitness First (S**tness First) are horrible overall. Don't go there..
But there are not really any other options in the area, I need a gym that does good classes, and cant get to crouch end after work in time. Boo. Damn easygym for ruining my routine!
There's a free outdoor gym in Finsbury Park. It's at the Northern end, opposite the New River gate.
Hi Lindsayp I've been a member of WG VA for years and I know how you feel.  Its been such a great little gym, very friendly and brilliant classes that make you actually enjoy excercise!  Apparently easy g are going to put on classes but as you say, it will work out more expensive. My routine is all out the window!! I'm going to use Crouch End branch and see how I get on.  I've asked them if they will put on extra classes to make up for the ones we are losing in WG and they said if there is enough demand they will.  As for fitness first, I couldnt put it any better than Annette.

The YMCA in Hornsey/Crouch End is brilliant, friendly, cheap and has a lot of classes.

Thanks! The YMCA could be an option, spin is the main class and a body pump/conditioning class that I do. And good to try out for a month or so. Just worried I wont get there in time after work as its quite far from the tube. But weekends I guess are a good option.

RuthE- So disapointing isnt it! I may try easy gym when it opens as Diana and Eds classes will definately still go ahead there.

thats good to know, I emailed easy gym over a week ago and asked them what classes they intend to put on - they still haven't replied.
@RuthE  Had a message from Easygym to the effect that they want to continue with various classes and they're approaching the instructors.  Seems as if the class I give will continue.
Thats great news.  I might join Easygym if they keep all the good instructors, its the best thing about the place.
