A story in the Ham and High details the anguish of Connaught Gardens (multimap link) residents at plans a couple have submitted to knock down their Edwardian house and rebuild with a modern eco house. The simulations of the result look ok, but it's not an easy one. Knock it down or keep it - whadya reckon?

I know where that is. They're lucky to be right next to Queens Wood. Those properties might be Edwardian but they're not exactly of a nice design. The UK needs to accept some movement out of C19th style housing and move into the C21st, especially when it comes to incorporating modern energy saving design.
So-called modern mock tudor or mock Victorian housing that developers still put up across the UK today is a blight on the landscape. Modern designs that the new world is used to are far more practical and if designed & built properly they can look so much more interesting too. They best thing modern design does is make far better use of light. Such an improvement on gloomy dark interiors of Victorian & Edwardian housing.
I don't see any reason why they shouldn't be allowed to go ahead.
