Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Once again this fine old block of a purpose-build pub (inn?) has been boarded-up.

 

As of late-January '11 there is no sign of activity and no agent's-board on display either.

Does anybody know what is happening to this building? Is it doomed for demolition or re-development - perhaps it'll become a bookies? I don't think there's one nearby.

 

I'd love to take charge of it and enter an unknown world of a licensee to make it a place that decent people want to go to for socialising and entertainment.

 

I've got plans...

I would love someone to take charge of it. I have had to call the security firm in charge of it a couple of times already. Once to clean it up and evict the camper from the front and the second time last week because the camper has returned and in breaking back in caused a bit of damage.

 

I suspect the "landlord" is on a remote corner of some Mediterranean island given the polite discussions I've had with his mates who used to park there. If you want to try to contact them and make an offer this is their website and they seem like good blokes.

 

The best thing I think can happen to it is flats up the top and perhaps a pub down below but it just hasn't been the kind of pub I would want to have a drink in for nearly 10 years. Cafe?

Agree. And by someone who is sympathetic to its age/history.

I have some info re previous landlords/ladies ( C19, not modern day stuff)

Time for some expert advice and the persuasion of collaborators...

 

Please appreciate that the business end of things really is the world of the unknown to me. I know a good pub, decent beer and good facilities though...

Can some rich biker not turn it into a rock pub again, had some great nights in there before it turned into a Sports Direct with cooking lager?

man i agree with you there it was awsome as a bikers bar, hood rats (criminal youth type) would think twice befor causing dramas there

we should all chip in buy the place and turn it into anything we want . . . .whos up for it we could make money from the flats.

 

who do you actually contact when you do see derilict or abandoned building in harringay ?

as far as I know the pub is not for sale or to let it has been bought and is awaiting plans.. Maybe I am wrong. I would be interested to know.  I have (and still do) run pubs and bars and have also had plans for this place.
