A new cafeteria along Tottenham Lane that i saw mentioned on twitter last week and went to have a gander at. Not far the Queen's Head pub at 28 Broadway Parade
http://www.coffee-cake.co.uk/ i took a photo of the cakes on display and bought a wonderful chocolate (of course) and ricotta cheese confection to take away. The lunch menu looks great. Will go back for lunch and desert one day. Recommend you take a look if in that neck of the woods.

Very gorgeous patisserie - I ordered a dish with maple syrup (don't ask) and was given one with honey without warning or explanation and my complaint was regarded as effrontery.

Am taking a friend there for lunch tomorrow (meal and cake). Hope service is good or there could be a scene. I am not good with people who take my money and treat me with contempt - i am inclined to flip.

The display and decor are great I agree, however for me the cakes are often not as good as they look - possibly because they don't have the trade to be able to sell it all through quickly enough every day. Apparently they make their own bread- or at least they made a great play of this when they first opened, and when I've had it it's been good.
My main grumble is that they are a direct rip off of Ottonlenghi , -very similar food, copied the display style, same prices but for me -not the same quality. The salads are sometimes exactly *exactly* the same as those you can make yourself from the Ottolenghi cookbook, or minor variations of. Particularly as we live conveniently handy to green lanes, where I have been able to fairly easily and cheaply acquire all the somewhat exotic ingredients needed. I do get that lots of people wouldn't bother and would rather buy it though :).
I am (periodically) a keen cook and I have this book and have made many of the recipes in it- so I do feel qualified to comment with regard to quality , originality etc.

Sadly over all I haven't had great service there. Low grade stuff like serving you but not giving you cutlery(and then disappearing behind the wall), bringing the wrong thing, acting affronted if you question that the cake is actually stale.(I don't care if you're adamant it was cooked today- if you left the cut edge open on a cake at home in a warm room it would go stale too- i just don't want to be the one eating it and paying top £ for the honour)
The usual kind of grumbles. My companion last time was actually brought the wrong meal- and it was flounced back to the kitchen with quite bad grace which is always a bit off and leaves a bad impression.
I have in the past actively gone back to places where things have gone wrong, but staff have been polite and rectified problems nicely. I think it's a sign of a good establishment if they can handle problems without punishing the customer with childishness. Weirdly it often inspires great loyalty from me.
I would say it is an ok place to go ,in walking distance of our patch- prices are quite high for average ish quality but it offers something slightly different with the salads etc.
If anyone else were thinking of making a trip there particularly to visit, i'd say go to Ottolenghi (nearest is on Upper st opposite the Almeida ) instead for the authentic original. They were voted the 'best breakfast in London' by Observer Food Monthly in 2008.
