it's disapponting that no-one from the police station has been in touch even though the girls told them that apparently the salisbury have captured the theft on cctv (don't underatand why thy landlord didn't call the police last night, but that's another issue)

melanie (the girl whose bag was stolen) is back to germany on tuesday but with no passport or photo id (they were in the bag) that may prove difficult...
The crime was reported 1030am this morning and the investigating officer phoned the pub at 1250pm but only got an answering machine but he left a message
thanks for the update, glyn. we look forward to speaking with someone in the not too distant future.
Ed* they probably won't be in touch until next year i'm afraid
Somebody was thrown out of the Old Ale emporium on New Year's Eve for dipping. He was back prowling up and down outside it on New Year's day afternoon, shouting threats to the landlord that he was going to come back and shoot him. Eastern european looking in appearance, grey hoodie (hood up, of course) with a very, very flat face. He looked like he'd been caught on many occasions before and taken a few beatings as a result. Even his mother would struggle to describe him as a looker. Probably coincidental but might be worth having a word with the landlord.

interesting to know - not being with the girls on thursday evening i have no idea if this might be the same person, but reading this and the "contact lens lady" thread i wonder whether if all these incidents were reported to the police they might actually get caught as it wouldn't be treated as a one off.

incidentally we have not yet heard back from hornsey police so we don't know if the salisbury got back to them, or if they have seen the cctv tape....

and still waiting....

Hi there, I work at the Salisbury. We indeed received the message from the police and got back in touch with them. We have the perp on CCTV and he's also known to us for doing this before (and consequently was reported). It is a real shame that people like this ruin fun for others. They operate mostly on busy nights, when we have no chance to monitor who comes in. We have put various signs out over the holidays telling people to be wary of thieves, unfortunately this didn't prove to be enough. We will always cooperate with the police and hope that it is possible for thiefs to get caught. I'm truly sorry for the German girl, I can only imagine how horrible it is to loose everything.
