Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Just heard about Impact Magazine. According to their Facebook page,

"The Haringey Impact is a brand new online, community magazine. We aim to inform, educate and present the area of Haringey in a fun, creative way.

"Haringey Impact is an online community magazine which hopes to inform its readers in a fun and innovative way about events and places in London. Each issue will focus on a different borough of the capital and highlight interesting attractions for people to visit. The first issue will cover the borough of Haringey and the next will be Islington."

That leaves me a little unclear as to what the proposition is since it's called Haringey Impact, but the spiel says that each issue will focus on a different borough.

This illustrates what Tim Berners-Lee was quoted as saying yesterday - that the social networking sites are closing off parts of the web. The only way to get info on this, or to contact them, is via Facebook. They dont seem to have their own independent website, or even a blog, either of which can be created in about five minutes for free for a basic site.

33million Faceook 'users' in the uk - many of whom are forced to sign up to follow lines like this.

I'm not agin FB, or Impact - just sayin'.
And 3554 HoL members signed up just to follow yours ;)
This is just chatter among those 3554. If I want to put information out via the web, I send people to my blog or my website; no need to register to check those - except that blogs and other Web 2.0 content may be blocked by employers and schools as they are just as time-wasting as HoL can be. Ahem, time-consuming.
I've asked these guys for clarity via their HoL page and via Twitter. They're staying pretty tight lipped. So no further on whether it's a London thing launching in Haringey or a Haringey thing.
