Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi thinking about selling. Just thinking......or buying something else locally. Can you recommend a good estate agent, if one exists?
Many thanks

I would rather deal with Castles rather than Paul Simon or Winkworth for example. Haven't had dealings with any others.
I don't have a lot of experience to draw on, but I thought the guys from Hobarts were the nicest to deal with.
We bought our flat through Cousins - who we found very pleasant to deal with (having been royally shafted by Foxtons on a previous occasion). I think Cousins are still going but their Green Lanes office is now derelict so maybe not so good?

If I were buying or selling again I'd choose whomever had the best web presence (Rightmove, Primelocation, Propertyfinder etc); floorplans are also useful and I find it strange that some still don't supply them as a matter of course.

Good luck.
Paul Simon are possibly below MPs in the evolutionary scale. Steer clear.

Although maybe more deserving local agents, Winkworths were good with us, buying and selling. You have to fight your ground and not let them push you around.
cousins were great to me and a number of my friends
That's great advice. Much appreciated.
I've got Castles coming out on Sat and I will ask the others you recommend to come out too for another opinion.
Thanks a lot for your help.
I'd second both of those opinions! Paul Simon are the most typical bull-of-bullsh*t agents around. Winkworths are all actual human beings, honest and striaghtforward. We've got our flat on the market at the moment with them and they are positive and proactive in selling it.
I would recommend Castles in Turnpike lane too. Panos is the guy I bought and sold my flat through. They were straightforward to deal with and they have an office in Crouch end so the property can be placed in both offices. I didn't like Paul Simon either and found them pushy and I wouldn't touch Foxton's with a barge pole having discussed possibly renting the flat with them and found a sign up outside the property the following day (before I had made my mind up to go with them).
We've just been through the mill with the lot of them locally over the last 9 months (buying and selling) and I can't begin to describe the stress, so my advice would be to stay put! Winkworths were the nicest and most professional by far - always felt that we knew where we were with them. Hain were also very helpful, attentive and professional. Paul Simon were friendly enough but not as on the ball. We had a very very poor experience with Bairstow Eves. Hope that helps. Unfortunately when it comes to buying you can't control who has the property you like best so you can end up, like us, buying and selling through the worst. Good luck!
Hi are there any updates on people's views of estate agents here? Am selling my flat soon and wanted to know who was best out of Keatons, Paul Simon and Winkworths who have all valued it....if not who else is good? Keatons seem to have a very good online presence though tend to over-value I have heard
Check out Castles. Have nothing to do with Paul Simon.
Hi Alastair, you could try this independent review site that allows you to see other peoples' experiences with local agents. I hope this helps.
