Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Admiral Gambling Casino @ 513 Green Lanes late night opening application - Register objections by 20/06/2024

I've received an email today from Haringey Council regarding Admiral Casino at 513 Green Lanes, the company who own this business are appealing a council decision to reject their application to extend their opening hours until 2am.

I registered an objection against the initial application (https://publicregister.haringey.gov.uk/pr/s/detail/a0YTu000004NEyKM...) on the grounds that it's well documented gambling businesses disproportionately target poorer areas and betting terminals in particular are highly addictive, I believe if it had been approved the application would have paved the way for a degradation in the area's night time economy.

I'll be doing the same again.

The email...

I have objected and so should everyone who cares about the state of the high street. It only takes a minute.

It’s somewhat depressing that the community has to band together and actively organize and fight against this stuff…

Thanks, I have commented again with a similar comment to the one I made on the original application:

I object to this application on the grounds set out by Haringey's Health in All Policies group and by LCSP. Extending the opening hours and changing use would reduce the amenity of the area for local residents late at night, creating an imbalance of betting/gambling/gaming outlets in a designated shopping area, and have a high probability of increasing crime and disorder.

Thank you for flagging and putting details in here
