Another sound Clegg performance.
If Paxman's researchers were so au fait with Hackney's school funding I'm sure they could have found out about Haringey's £1,000+ shortfall. But then perhaps that was for Lynne Featherstone or Robert Gorrie to see that their leader was briefed even on that local detail.
Well it's interesting how he tries to handle Paxman's trade mark attack approach to questioning, where Paxman just doesn't let go on certain points. Clegg simply went back at Paxman just as hard. Difficult balancing act that one as Clegg doesn't want to come across as arrogant, like the interviewer. Yeah, I think he did OK. Let's see how the others handle pitbull Pax.
> Stan: Possibly. Strangely Paxman spend the last 5mins of the interview coughing and spluttering his way through the questions. At one point I thought they'd have to break the interview. Maybe they did. How Clegg was able to concentrate on his answers to the Pax questions I don't know.
The Clegg interview was a day before the Leader Debate. Here's the latest polls;
*A ComRes poll for the Sunday Mirror and Independent on Sunday puts the Conservatives on 31, the Lib Dems on 29 and Labour on 27.
*ICM poll for the Sunday Telegraph puts the Conservatives on 34, Labour on 29 and the Lib Dems on 27. BBC.
Oh I see. You're recommending Westminster Boys' as producing competent and confident debaters who can handle people like Paxman. Well, that's useful to know. Just what we need in our politicians :-)
Recommending ... no. Noting the link ... yes. One would hope each party has produced a competent and confident debater, considering it's a 'Leaders Debate'.
"Once Cameron had left the studio, Paxman was clearly heard saying, 'He's a bit of a smooth b******, isn't he?'
"This was greeted with some hilarity and various references to pots and kettles by those who heard it."
The latest opinion poll puts Labour at 26, the Lib Dems at 31 and the Tories at 35 per cent, still leaving them 42 seats short of a Commons majority.
