Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

See them at:

Harringay Ward Candidates
St Ann's Ward Candidates
Seven Sisters Ward Candidates

I'm told that pics and bios are on their way.

So that's full house except for LDs in Seven Sisters + any smaller parties or indepdendents. I know we have at least one independent in Harringay ward. Any others anyone knows of?

Hello Kerry. Thanks for the explanation and best of luck for the election.

Speaking from a Harringay Ward viewpoint only, you are aware, are you, that Harringay will be a 20 mph zone within weeks and that traffic-calming measures are being put in place at this moment ?
I believe the Council is already committed to a 40% reduction in CO2 emissions. There are already grants, of course , towards the cost of insulation ( and energy efficient boilers ) but unfortunately they are means-tested and I don't qualify. It's encouraging to see that you will work towards a scheme free for all (if that's what you're saying ).

It would also be interesting to know which Ward you have decided to focus on.
Hi again, thank you for the comments. The focus ward is Stroud Green and glad to see support for an introduction of a free mass insulation scheme borough wide. Yes I am aware that in Harringay 20 mph will be introduced, implementation as ever is key here however a 20mph limit in residential areas across the borough is definitely that makes everyone's lives better no matter where you live. Also integral to tackling the concerns regarding traffic, on top of reductions in speed limits, is providing an environment where alternative modes of transport become more attractive - that is better pedestrian spance and measures supporting cyclists (supporting the great work of Haringey Cycling Campaign for instance).

I also want to state that Green Party activists have been involved in a number of local concerns for several years including campaigns on concerns around transport issues doing press on 20mph limits, emission reduction and traffic calming; health service campaigns; housing; against the concrete batching plant; and with sustainable haringey to name but a few. We cannot be everywhere and perhaps we fail to blow the GP trumpet when working in coalition with others but many GP members have been committed to various community campaigns for several years.

Finally as I stated, I think in my first response, we will work to build on the votes we receive in a more consistent manner. Yet we have few resources - hopefully these elections will help to increase the growing number of Green Party activists in the Ward (and across the borough) so that we can do more.
