Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

... Nikolaos Talaiporos? I've lived at the same address in N15 for over 10 years but recently I've had a few pieces of mail for him...

Thanks.

Thanks. I've connected to him so hopefully he returns and I can message him...

On a similar note, I had post today addressed to "Ben & Glory" here in Hornsey Vale. So, likewise, if that pair of names means anything to anyone...

What sort of mail? Would the letters seem to be from banks and lending companies?

i'm still getting christmas cards every year for a previous occupier who died about 35 years ago. i'm told that if she were still alive she would be approx 120 years old. Before you send that christmas card make sure the recipient is still alive.

I refer to my brief post above. I guess it sounds cynical but I had this more than once at a particular address in North London. The first was a man who had clearly taken out loans with multiple companies with no intention of paying them back. Whether there was any significance to him choosing our address I know not. He didn't need to visit or have a key because he couldn't care less about reading the various threatening letters he was getting. I spent months writing on envelopes DOES NOT LIVE HERE- HAS NEVER LIVED HERE. Eventually they stopped.

The second was more specific; he used my flat number and got a loan from my own bank. I approached the latter with various questions. Don't you check the electoral roll? Don't you seek proof of address? And in that case, didn't your computers flag up that the address tallied with an existing customer? No seemed to be the answer to all of these. The hapless bank teller admitted procedures for opening accounts was pretty slack. Not really my experience of late, and I did wonder if it was an inside job with a bank employee taking a cut for opening an account.

Yes of course there may be Christmas cards sent year after year for previous residents but sometimes there is a less innocent explanation.

Meanwhile, I couldn't open an account with a a company for investing in shares because my partner already has an account with them at the same address.

Every year I return to sender. And still they come.

It looks more like a Christmas card.

The law states that any mail posted to your address becomes your property. I was shocked when i learned that. (Struck through by site admin)

Seriously? That doesn't make any sense at all.

As in, I’m guessing, we not only have to deal with it? But does that mean we can throw letters away? If you live in a rented property.
