I wish you luck and have every sympathy for genuine refugees who have applied and gone through the proper channels which enables the UK to sustainably absorb its share of refugees alongside other nations.

I think what would help is if people got money together and/or pushed and paid for housing to be built.
Right now I think more people would be receptive of the idea if there was a bit of planning that went into receiving migrants of all sorts.
Historically it's been a bit of a mess and it's not great being on the waiting list for council housing or private rental (at the current prices).
