Please take the kitten to the nearest vet. Now, that you gave the address away, anyone can come and claim the ownership including dogfighters and people who feed their snakes live prey, people who want to breed and sell kittens for profit, and people who want to buy the tiny animals to be used for peddling. I am sorry to say that this is a very irresponsible post. Please take the kitten to the vet before it ends up in the wrong hands. Thank you.

I think that is a bit harsh. I advised them to post here, just as people do with other found cats. I understand your concerns but think you need to be a bit kinder.

Usually, when people find cats they post about found cats on social media but they don't give away the address and ask people to knock on the door. It's just safety reasons and common sense. It's not harsh. It's straightforward advice from a rescue. All "found" cats should be brought to the nearest vet to be scanned for the chip. It's free of charge.

Tigha is quite right. Not everyone has the time or inclination to take a stray to the vet. Posting on a local community site seems an entirely sensible first step. It's a cat, not a lost child.
