Hi all.
I purchased 2 adult tickets to see the fireworks at Alexandra Palace for Friday Nov 5th. I paid £21 for the tickets and that included a booking fee plus a 50p "restoration" levy per ticket to the palace. Two days after I booked I received an email from the event telling me that the Friday event had been cancelled and I could use my tickets (That I never received) on the Saturday event or request a refund. Myself and the wife cannot go on Saturday so I requested a refund. I noticed yesterday that I had received a refund but for only £17. Today I called Alexandra Palace and was told that I have to contact the ticket company SeeTickets. I have emailed them but I'm not expecting a response to be honest. What are my chances of getting this money back? I know its only £4 but its the principle. I didn't cancel...They did. I spoke to someone at Ally Pally this morning and she told me it the palaces policy to not refund either the booking fee or even the 2x50p restoration levy!
Anyone else here trying to get a full refund for this event for the Friday?
Many thanks.

They are not obliged to refund booking fees. Booking fees are such a scam, eg in your case 20% of the cost was "fees".
Ally Pally also advertise prices for events without stipulating a booking fee which is illegal
Thanks Jezza. They won't even refund my restoration levy that is presumably going direct to ally pally?
If you've checked the T&Cs for the original purchase and have also spoken to SEE but are still unhappy, you could contact STAR (The Society of Ticket Agents and Retailers) at www.star.org.uk, who have a dispute resolution service that may be able to help or advise you. SEE are STAR members and there's a code of conduct they should abide by, but I'm not up-to-date on whether this includes refunds of booking fees for cancelled events, which has often been a contentious issue. If Ally Pally are advertising non-inclusive prices (ie without booking fees), this may indeed be illegal, but STAR may also be able to help on this. Ally Pally aren't STAR members in their own right, so prices and seating plans are probably the responsibility of whoever tickets their events (not necessarily SEE in all cases, as it may depend on who the event organiser is).
