Just a quick message to ask if anyone can shed any light on the catchment area criteria for St John Vianney Primary.
We were thinking of moving to a house on Harringay Road that is about 100m (actually, 109m to be precise), from the school but does that count for anything given that it's faith-based?
Our boy is baptised Anglican, but we're far from regular church-goers, so i don't think we'd be getting any priority based on faith. Does that pretty much rule him out of a place there, or are there usually a few places left to be allotted by distance to the school gate after all the other categories have been exhausted - and is 109m even too far?!
I'd ask the school but, typically, I've picked half term to go on this fact-finding mission. So if anyone has any experience of this, it would be great to hear about it... Ed
That's the wrong part of the country :-)

Thanks both.
James, I thought I'd read the document that you'd linked to before, but if I had then obviously missed the following key paragraph under the criteria first time round:
In four of the last five years the governing body has been able to offer places to applicants up to oversubscription criterion 8.
Thank you, that answers quite a bit for me. Still, I think you're right Elizabeth, I'm sure another few attempts at calling them to sound things out wouldn't go amiss...
It’s still worth getting in touch and asking the school as admin staff will still be working and possibly some members of senior management too
SJV is a fantastic little school, I've had three children go through there and lived on Harringay road when my eldest started actually. As it happens I am also a governor of the school. There isn't a 'catchment' area as such as it entirely depends on who is applying for the year that you are interested in. You may be unlucky to be up against a lot of siblings and a sudden surge in baptised Catholics. This is highly unlikely given the rapidly changing demographics of the area. The Head is currently doing virtual tours and I'm sure would be delighted to answer any questions you have, just give the office a ring on Monday.
