Thanks Kevin, some useful and comprehensive tips. We did have a bit of pus from the puss (euurgh) but he's fine now. I think Hill's sounds pretty good, I might register there.

Please do. I've been taking cats to Hills for over 18 years now and cannot recommend Mrs Hill highly enough.
