Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

It was announced recently that the Agora group has entered into insolvency administration.

Before we all cheer too loudly, let's spare a thought for the 500 people the group employs and consider that it will probably be sold as a going concern and so we should assume that the premises will remain open in one form or another as a gambling shop.

Will the new owners be able to reapply for a 24 hour licence?
thoughts spared. Now: hurrraaaaaaahhhh! Maybe this is the beginning of he tend for a few of these companies. There's too many of them, that's obvious. And we might get lucky, and the one down the road shuts down. Fingers crossed.
I'm not sure whether licences apply to premises or to owners. I'd have thought though that whatever the case is, there would have to be a substantive change of circumstances for a licence to be granted. My understanding of the previous refusal of application is that the decision was made on the basis of local circumstances, not at all related to the owner. I don't think things can get worse as a result of this news.

With regards to Anette's Christmas Cheeeeeeeerrrrrr, Anette, you'll be mildly heartened to hear (if you haven't already) that I noticed the bookies on Crouch End Hill has closed down the other day. Tough times even for bookies it seems.

I heard on the radio this morning that more businesses have closed down in this recession than at any time since records began. Tough times indeed.
more bookies to close on Green Lanes please Santa! Feel free to take Zam's so-called Chicken with you too. Happy Christmas!
Love this message Anette! Let's hope Father Christmas is able to grant our wishes!
