Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi, we need to sell our house. We've never done this before.

Does anyone have any recent experience of using a local estate agents to sell. Any recommendations or advice  would be most welcome.

(The online diy approach isn't going to work for us as we are moving abroad)

Thanks.

theadvisory.co.uk has all the info you need, and has a really helpful estate agent comparison tool, showing how long each has taken to sell properties and how close to asking price they went for (so you can see how accurate their valuations are). Note, though, that you should be able to get lower commission rates than they report when calling up (and lower still if you haggle, which you should).

Hello.  Have a look at Brickworks.  They’re local, a family business and lovely to deal with.   We sold through them a few years ago.  They were great and made the process as easy as possible.

We've previously bought and sold with Winkworth but next time will go with Paul Simon. Read into that what you will!

Was thinking of using Winkworth as they seem to manage to sell the most local properties closest to the asking price, and their commission was low. What was your issue (and when)?

I'm happy to tell you privately if you send me a connection link. But suffice to say there were numerous issues.

I’ve used the people in Paul simons for both my flats here. They used to work in Bairstows eve for my first flat, before they moved. I was really pleased with them both times and will def use them again when I need to

so basically I’ve bought 2 flats from them and sold one

I just messaged you.

I, personally, would steer clear of Winkworth. Had a nightmare experience where our "cash buyer" they found turned out had no cash, instead, all their money was tied up in a complicated property portfolio which took eight months to complete. Also, it seems they tend to overprice your property to get your business, then swiftly tell you to drop the price significantly to get a sale. Throughout they took the side of the buyer, not their client. I'm sure you'll hear horror stories about most estate agents, and it may have been a special case, but my personal experience of Winkworth was poor.
