This is quite bizarre- but two nights ago a man visited our house at 2am and dumped a few kg of a yellowish grain on our front step. I thought initially it was sand, but actually I think it might be polenta or semolina (!).
I've attached a couple of photos below including one of the man. Has anyone ever come across something like this, or have any idea what it might be about? It's just so odd, we really cannot think of a rational explanation! Does anyone recognise him?

Found this on a woo website:
"An old folk legend states one should throw rice on the floor of various rooms in a house--because it is believed a ghost has to stop and count the rice grains. This is done over several days so the spirit will become frustrated and leave. Some use sand in place of rice."
And yes, probs mental health drug related issues.
Having said that, mum's house in Cornwall had a large number of votive objects buried in the walls from early 18th century.. Horsehoes, childrens shoes, ribbons etc. Always above doorways/thresholds. Ancient traditions to ward off evil spirits.
I'd suggest that it's probably ground yellow maize, why on your doorstep I can't say apart from mistaken address with mental health issues. I know a woman who always throws the first shot of a bottle of spirits into the corner of the room for 'the dead'.
Admittedly the face in the pic is tricky to see clearly but he looks rather like a chap who was seen rummaging through bins along my street, & photographed leaving with a half full carrier bag.
I’d be interested to know which road you live in.
Looks like Carlingford Rd.
