Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Barking-Gospel Oak line to close every weekend from late August to late October

Oh dear....

"The Gospel Oak to Barking line on the London Overground is to be closed every weekend from late August to late October, due to engineering works.

The line has already suffered years of disruption, but Network Rail says that these works are to strengthen four bridges and replace 2 miles of track between Harringay Green Lanes and Upper Holloway. The track replacement works are unrelated to the derailment at the start of this year, which took out over 2 miles of track in the Walthamstow area."

What a joke.

I'm not sure how long these works have been going on but, to offer a spot of context, the Canadian Pacific was built in under five years.

Admittedly the BtGO Line has to cope with the badlands of the great rolling prairies of the lower Heath, but the route is light on Rockies and there are few grizzly bears to trouble the plate-layers.

This train line has probably run 15% of service it's meant to run in the last 3 years. Line damage, switching to electric, repairs, more repairs, delays to work, etc.

One example...

There were part closures (at weekends and from South Tottenham to Barking) from June to late September 2016, followed by a full closure from October to February 2017. In February 2017, Network Rail announced that whilst the line would re-open as scheduled, they weren't able to complete all the work planned due to "incorrect" designs and late delivery of materials.[30] Further evening and weekend works until late June 2017 were already planned, followed by around four months of commissioning work before the electric wires could be turned on so that Class 710 trains could run.[31] Although the line was completely electrified by mid-January 2018,[32] delays prevented the introduction of new electric trains until 2019
