Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

To those who WFH (work from home) due to current situation - how do you find it?

I normally used to work from home 1-2 days per week  which was fine as I set my own schedule which includes some really random hours looking after/supporting staff all over the world (so different time zones/work patterns etc etc) which was often easier done from home than massive open plan office.

For a month now I have been working solely from home, I had to speed up some roll outs to enable everyone else from my organisation to work from home too (not without few hiccups) so 3 weeks of 12 hour days wore me out a bit but things are calming down a bit now and I am getting to the point that I actually miss the office.

That bit of a banter, that going out to grab a coffee, time away from the screen (I seem to be attached to my laptop/phone now) and seeing real people. I work with a fantastic team which helps but still

If you do work from home now - how do you find it?

The views are probably to decode WFH.

I'm retired

Are you the person who said you didn't find old age emporium funny or something along them lines? Would that be a reason? Or am I mad.

Nice one, Pablo. For my part I usually find Anka hilarious. Here, however, she left me wondering WTF is WFH, until Hugh helped decode it. FTMT & GRMMA.

Enough TLAs thank you:)

I do two crisis reponse shifts a week which I need to be in Westminster for.

Now the novelty has worn off these (legal) sojourns are the highlight of my lockdown.

I have a team of 40+ that have all moved to WFH and it's been quite a smooth transition.  My team develop digital products (design systems, websites...) and the shift seemed to work quite flawlessly.

I do miss the social interaction and the ability to walk around the office and chat to people as well as the food, but we have online social times with my team and other teams around the office to keep the social aspect up.

I've written an article here about Working from Home if anyone is interested.  It outlines a few of the things that help working from home be successfully.

Like you I used to wfh. Loved it and planned my time so I could squeeze in the laundry and deliveries. Wfh all the time is a different ball game. I try to stick to a routine, but the work day gets longer and its very tiring as you are on the screen all the time. Small talk and human contact is missing from the day. I have created a standing desk with the help of boxes so I can stand for all meeting. It gives the neck and back a break. We do a think called zoom roulette where each week we are given 2 random people from the firm to catch up with and have a chat. This is working super well. I miss the office but really enjoy not commuting, seeing my son, morning walks, lunch in the garden.

I find it very easy. But it helps that I have a back garden to myself, I guess. I certainly do not miss travelling into central London and back every day.

Current status is stay at home and see how things go.

Lease in my current building expires next April. The rumbling is we may not go back...
