Hello there everyone, I hope everyone is keeping well.
Now that I am working from home, it's become even more apparent that Pemberton Road is being used as a shortcut to Green Lanes for many heavy lorries. These often travel down the road at high speed, making the house shake from the vibrations, down to the very back of the house. I can feel the vibrations from two speed humps, the one further away from my house, seems to cause even more vibrations that the one near me. I have talked to a few neighbours about it and they are having the same issue. One even mentioned that due to the vibrations they have had to replace their front room ceiling due to plasterboard cracking.
I think the main problem for this road is the fact that a lot of lorries are servicing shops at the bottom of the road, such as Yasar Halim and Iceland.
If you live in Pemberton road and are being affected by this, I would love to hear from you. Perhaps we could get together and approach the council about this and see if they can implement some restrictions, such as no left turn at the bottom of the road or some further slowing down devices, such as narrowing of the road near the speed humps, that would make these lorries slow down.
I know the council is reluctant to admit that vibrations cause damage to houses, but to be honest this is becoming a personal nuisance too, as the vibration and noise from the lorries are often making me jump in bed and wake me up, especially when they come down at full speed at 5-6am in the morning (Veolia).
I recall seeing discussions about this issue before, but I can't find the threads on HOL. Any pointers would be great.
When road Bumps was first introduced. I had issues with speed Bump. But after serious words with Council
They reduced the height of Bump. so cutting down vibrations
Understand that some authorities have lower bumps but closer together. Which reduce vibration but make it uncomfortable for vehicles to speed over
Where I live they speed down road without any speed bumps and into roundabout and speed bump. The Amount that loose parts and oil on them is a real joke
Hi Anton
We are on Pemberton and badly affected too, when that early morning veolia truck goes past the whole house shakes. I will DM you as would like to get something done. I think in general the council need to look at the traffic on Pemberton, particularly as it is a school road. I know other residents on Pemberton that would be keen to join and lobby the council.
I'll be in touch.
Dawn
