Hi Samantha,
I’ve been proofreading for around seven years. All of the proofreading I do is online and on a freelance basis.
Before you choose a course it’s a good idea to think about what you are hoping to gain from it. Are you looking to become a professional proofreader, do you want to pick up occasional freelance work, or are you aiming to improve the quality of your own documents? Then look for a course that will better meet your needs and can provide you with the right support.
Also consider if you would like interaction with a tutor, and if this service is available and already included in the course price.
Lastly, if you are hoping to get work in this area it’s a good idea check if the course provider is set up to help with this. Ask if they have any affiliate programmes or work platforms that you would be able to join as a result of taking their course.
A good course provider will be able to answer all of these questions, and asking doesn’t cost you anything!
Good luck in your course search.
You are welcome! You are welcome to DM me if you want a chat about life as a freelance proofreader.
