A Ladder-based cake maker is taking the food fashion world by storm with her knockout cakes.

Cake maker Katie Franklin started her cake making business two years ago after training as as a fashion and textiles stylist. Her stunning looking cakes are now gaining lots of attention from the fashion world and a growing cluster of customers who want cakes that impress.

Earlier this year Katie was called out of the blue by Vogue Magazine with a request to include one her fantasy cakes (above) in the May issue.  The cake was featured in an article about sophisticated nineteenth century style and the cake was dubbed "the last word in parlour chic".

"Design of a cake is really important to me", Katie told Harringay Online, "I work to create cakes that combine flavours and aesthetic".

Specialising in making for fashion events as well as personal events like weddings, Katie will often work alongside designers to create her masterpieces. She's just been working on a cake creation with designer Fred Butler, for example and has made another cake to support a launch by Shelley's shoes.

If you're not ready to match budgets with the fashion houses, Pomp de Franc offer cup cakes as well as chef d'oeuvre cakes. Cupcakes sell for standard nice cake shop prices. If you want the full monty, Katie's masterpieces start from £150, but look like they're worth every penny.
