The Odd-One-Out Houses at the Bottom of Duckett
Have you ever noticed the terrace of three houses at the bottom of Duckett that are slightly different to the other Ladder houses?
From about 1891 till some time just before or just after the First World Ward a church used to stand on the plot. It went out of use somewhat earlier that the many other churches in Harringay and now not a single sign remains that it was ever there. One wonders if its troubles were financial ones.

The Misses Gleggies interested me as it's quite an unusual name. So I looked to see if I could find where they lived. Couldn't find any Misses Gleggies or Gleggie in the census of 1891, 1901, or 1911. In fact, just one Gleggies in Wales 1891. Hmm. Were they perhaps out in the colonies..? My own family had members living in the USA and South Africa in 1881, 1891, 1901.. so it could be possible.
