Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

1. Sustainable harringayonline's Real Presence.

2. Local Residents' Associations to supplement Dave Morris's Federation stall.

3. 'W1 Bus & 20mphZone' afficionados to give meaning to Haringey's 2011-2026 'Policy 4'.

4. Large map of 'A New Plan for Haringey' showing HARINGEY Station just off my road!

5. Two banks of SOLAR panels flanking the stage, both facing due NORTH and thoroughly shaded by several large (?chestnut)trees!

I was so amused by this last sight that I was all but mown down by a mad speeding cyclist (How green!) who had jumped the traffic line by the Queen's Head, careering onto the pavement by Ducket Common corner. Fortunately I was able to insert my trusty trekking pole between his rear wheel spokes (a skill I've been practising for some time) to bring his career to a fumbling halt. 'Next time,' I warned, 'it'll be your front wheel.' He resumed his saddle somewhat chastened. My walking stick sustained some superficial paint scratches which, I trust, my insurance should cover.

I agree with some of your points Eddie, especially regards the solar panels which can't have been doing anything because as you say, they were facing the wrong way!

Stalls up the other end were interesting though.

Peter Piper (whom I bumped into at the fair) & I enjoyed the live music so much we thought how good it would be to have a free concert night on the common next summer. For a change the noise of the traffic was drowned out by the cool sounds of funk.
I enjoyed the fair. I noticed the panels (which do work even if not in direct sunlight - just not as efficiently )
I noticed also the Wriggly Pig sausage stall had been located at a tactful distance from the veggie/vegan stalls :-) Loved the Sumo wrestling.
.... I couldn't hear a generator.

Probably battery back-up
My mistake, John D. The panels were obviously photovoltaic, not solar water heating panels, so they must have been producing some funky electricity. Or like most Panels set up by Haringey, were they just a detached laid-back waste of space ?
