Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Dorset police have recently upset Bournemouth cyclists along the promenade by hiding officers with speed guns behind beach huts, ready to catch the offending cyclists.

Article here.

Should cyclists be made to use speedometers, particularly those commuting daily?

What would the speed limit be, for example in bus lanes?

Should police resources be used such as in Bournemouth to catch 'speeding' cyclists?

Are 'speeding' cyclists putting themselves at danger and other members of the public, such as pesdestrians and other cyclists?

How is a car driver supposed to take evasive action if he's not likely to see a speeding cyclist in time ? Or is this just another occasion where the driver is always in the wrong ?
If you pull out of a side road and hit a bike which has right of way, then you are in the wrong: "I diidn't see it" isn't an excuse, unless, for example, it's at night and the bike has no lights
In that case a driver will never be able to pull out of a side road in case there is a bike doing 30-40 mph which he cannot see, as postulated by Matt.
If speeding (above speed limit) into a collision on M.Hill with a car, the cyclist will probably end up having themselves killed or seriously injured. They could also be done for dangerous or careless cycling, theoretically, assuming the cyclist is still alive and assuming the police or cyclist's insurance wants to take car driver to court.
Wightman being my record of 36mph

Booked!

A dangerous cycling offence carries the possibility of a fine up to £2500 maximum while the lesser charge of careless cycling carries a maximum fine of £1000. A £30 fine is given for running a red light. You cannot incur points on your driver's licence for a cycling offence. See here.
Due to the tube strike I had to cycyle to Wembley* last night and coming back over Hamstead Heath was fun. I got my self in my aerodynamic position (as I use to to on my Raliegh Grifter all those years ago) and wizzed down the banks, great fun. I don't think I got over 30 though : )

*Tubes were running to and from Wembley!
I did yes, that'll be why backside is aching so much this morning!
