Suggest you get a burglar alarm. The alarm box itself is a deterrent. If you search HOL you'll see plenty of chat including company suggestions or self install. You'll have to decide if you want that alarm monitored remotely by a monitoring company which is separate to the alarm install/maintenance company but they can suggest one for you and set up the monitoring. Or you can set up a self install to ring your mobile if out.

Some information about the break-in would be appreciated to, especially at such an hour. Front or rear?

We also had an attempted break in two Saturday's ago on the Ladder around the same time - crow bar or similar on the front sash window. Fortunately sash bolts prevented access, however they were quite bent, so a lot of forced was used. We have a working burglar alarm by Red Alarms (and also Smart Water registered with a sticker on the window). Apparently we're one of the 7% where entry is attempted on alarmed properties.

Another thumbs up for Third Eye. Had an alarm fitted with them years back and both the product and service have been good.

He/ they (not sure but there may have been a lookout) smashed pane of front door enough to get arm through but Chubb lock put them off breaking in.  Thanks for recommendations I'll check out Thirdeye
