Our black cat Comet has been sleeping and now mostly living somewhere else but we think near us on Cavendish Road for 2-3 weeks - he comes back a couple of times a day, walks around the house, sometimes has a nap and then wanders off again.
We're pretty sure Comet had a scare with a fox that comes through our back garden twice or more each day - fox is curious and comes up right up to the back doors that of course have been open all the time we're at home in this heat - and right next to the doors was Comet's favourite sleeping place. We've since caught the fox in our kitchen which is slightly unnerving!
Comet looks happy and healthy - he's definitely being well fed - but we'd really like him back living with us again - we've been away the last couple of weeks but housesitters and neighbours have seen and fed him - and we miss him.
If you've seen him or know where he's hanging out please let us know.
He's chipped, neutered, few white hairs on chest, slight kink towards end of his tail, no collar but I will try to get one on him again soon (last one lasted less than half an hour) so that he's more identifiable.
Pictures below - although his tummy is definitely slightly rounder now!
Yes put a collar on him with some paper with a message to call you
cats are naughty as they do try to make out they are homeless to other people
thankfully mine don’t wander, but I would be furious if someone else was feeding them
funny, cats aren’t usually bothered by foxes, you don’t have another cat around stressing him
hopefully you will get this sorted very soon
Thanks Anna and Tigha
good idea and I’ve managed to get a paper collar on him with a request to not feed him and ‘send’ him home - someone has definitely been making him more than welcome which is very frustrating.....
Managed to keep him in most of yesterday and last night and he seems to have stuck around our house most of today so fingers crossed.
There IS another cat around that both our cats seem to hate and Comet had a loud and angry interaction with him this morning so that might have been the problem..... but both the fox and this cat will come right up to the house to investigate, and sometimes will just sit/stand and stare.... our cats are not impressed!
