Junk mail blocking

I need help with blocking junk mail. My email account is marked as exclusive, so these emails all come into my junk box. They are for Russian brides, hot ladies, Viagra etc - none of which are needed or wanted. Every time I try to block them, the email address is listed as my own. I must have either clicked on a bad link or my email address was sold. I just want them to stop - help!!

Who is your email account provider? Google? Virgin? Yahoo?

Right. They used to use a white label version of gmail. Then a year or so ago they set up their own email system. Following that I got so much spam with no way to control it, I stopped using that email account and set up my own. As far as I'm aware Virgin's own email platform is useless at controlling spam. I voted with my feet. Wish I could be the bearer of better tidings. Once you bite the bullet and make the change it's not as bad as you think it might be.

Hiya Hugh,

I just blocked them all, even if they were using my e-mail address. I still get them, but they are not the Russian ones now. I get a lot of American insurance, ObamaCare and Home Protection ones. Luckily, they come into my Junk box, about 35-40 / day. I just block them all, but the same ones come back, with a different email address. I also get quite a few from here, despite the new laws.

If it gets too much, you can get a new email provider without the need to change your ISP.

Great to know. I have never used my Virgin email account, but I am happy with their services overall.
