Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I would like to make you aware that the following incident happened today. It was made aware to me by a letter given to all parents/guardians of North Harringay Primary School.

At 8.30 this morning a child was walking to school on Wightman Road (near to the Greek Church) when a man tried to grab the child. Fortunately the child got away and to school safely. The police have been informed.

A brief description of the man:
White Male
Longish Brown hair
Approx 40 y/o
Blackish Sweatshirt
Blue Jeans

I hope NHPS don’t mind me reproducing this but I think the wider community need to be extra careful

There have been at least a couple of similar attempted snatches up in Hornsey in the last few weeks, one involving a similar sounding bloke with a white van. The Journal had a report on them and parents at St Marys were given a warning letter like the NHPS one. I wonder if they're connected?
How awful, thanks for letting people know Birdy. Like Bushy I'd been made aware of something similar in Hornsey (Nightingale Lane area), and a note was posted on my son's nursery door warning parents to be careful.
The description of the male on the crime report has the male wearing a black/blue/white small checked jumper.
He also apparently had an irish accent. The rest of the description tally`s with Birdy`s

Thanks for the additional information. We are now being extra vigilant, such as making sure that our kids are with others at all times when out. Will you be able to keep this discussion updated with any major developments in the investigation - those that you can put in the public domain (such as arrests)?

many thanks
Simon
Ah, I didn't see this thread and started another one. Its worrying. I guess we should all be a bit careful.
Schoolchildren cannot ever be alone walking to/from home ?
I'm astounded !
Please tell me where i am living again.
Go down the passage at 8:30 in the morning and you will NOT be alone.
