274 Wightman Rd - Response from Haringey Council

I have today recieved a response from Haringey Council about the above property. I contacted the Director of Urban Environment having seen the discussion about this property mentioned on Harringay Online.

I'm very pleased to be advised that significant action has now been taken by Haringey in relation to this property. Planning Enforcement Officers visited the property on 17th March 2009 but were unable to gain access. They noted significant evidence of building work being carried out however and so decided to return the next day. On the 18th March, they were able to gain access to the property. They saw seven electricity meters, recently installed, as well as kitchens, bathrooms, partition walls, locks and doorbells.

The property was clearly being converted into seven bedsits, and all this was being done with no planning permission.

An Enforcement Notice has now been served on the property. This lasts until the 10th May 2009. If the landlord does not comply with the order by that date, he will be rendered liable to prosecution for non-compliance.
