John, you and others may wish to note that the LibDems' candidates and councillors ALL oppose the HDV--- that matters because we already have an elected presence in five Haringey wards - Alexandra, Crouch End, Fortis Green, Highgate and Muswell Hill (note: the sole LD for Crouch End, Sarah Elliott, shortly defected to Labour a year after being elected and now supports the HDV. She is seeking re-selection).
I do know this, one of the main protagonists in the anti-HDV crusade is Highgate LibDem Councillor Clive Carter. He has very bravely stood down from his safe-ish Highgate ward and will stand in Northumberland Park against Sheila Peacock.
Natan Doran was also originally elected as a LibDem and moved to Labour, presumably after some sweet talking from the cabinet.
Good. I had a "nice" conversation with him when he was elected (sorry, I don't know why I thought he was a libdem) about how he thought parents should be prosecuted if it could be shown that their behaviour/parenting had caused a problem in their child. Nice.
Natan Doron is a puzzle to me. A while back I looked him up and found a long list of publications with summaries and about topics which suggested someone open-minded who actually read and respected evidence.
So I didn't expect to find him among the rest of the line-up of hard-core Kobots who are apparently impervious to evidence, incurious about other people's dissent, and think loyalty to the Dear Leader trumps commitment to residents whose homes are under threat.
Please bear in mind that none of these deselected councillors have actually gone. (Doron is not yet selected or deselected). There's another six months to go and lots of stupid risky decisions can still be made - in some cases by senior officers (staff) who have been given huge discretion to spend our money like water.
Natan Doran "isn’t seeking re-election".
Justin, any source for that statement, please?
The three chosen for West Green can't be any worse than the current councillors who are, HDV and politics aside, just awful.
I'm a little suss about Khaled Abdul Moyeen given his previous role in Tower Hamlets as Politcal Advisor to the Mayor and Chief Executive.
Works for me. Google "Khaled Adbul Moyeen Tower Hamlets".
