There will be a protest march tomorrow (Saturday 23rd September) against the council's development deal with Lend Lease. It will go from Tottenham Green (assembling at noon) to Finsbury Park via West Green Road and Turnpike Lane. More details here.
If you are at all uncomfortable about an Australian corporation shmoozing its way into possession of our public housing via Cannes and a public relations firm happy to employ local councillors in pursuit of their client's aims then please join it.
If ambivalent about this then may I remind you that it's never too early to protest.

This is a crucial cause for Haringey. The Stop HDV campaign is doing brilliant work. Hoping for a great turnout!
The look on Ali Gul Ozbek's face as he drove past the march on the other side of Green Lanes was priceless. He was open mouthed with astonishment. He is one of the councillors voting for this, as are his other two compatriots in St Ann's.
Local councillors - and anyone else - who support the HDV should be ashamed of themselves. They clearly underestimate and take for granted long-standing Labour voters in the diverse, strong and solid communities they're supposed to represent. I'm afraid they'll find we're not fools when it comes to local elections. Or the court challenge.
We in Haringey have support from across London and the World: the community around Grenfell Tower, the Ledbury Estate in Peckham, Aylesbury Estate and many, many more.
We only have to look at evictions in San Francisco and many other cities to know that this 'development' will result in forcing black, Muslim and white working class people out of our borough. Already, affluent people are 'investing' in houses in Tottenham in anticipation. They claim to be socially aware, but they turn a blind eye to the evictions, homelessness and suffering that result - and do nothing to stop it. They secretly want Starbucks and other corporates moving in and driving out the local businesses and community spaces like the Selby Centre.
But we're not stupid. We're a strong, solid and powerful community. We will stop this.
If you care, join us now.
"I'm afraid they'll find we're not fools when it comes to local elections."
Setting aside the fact that voters here in Haringey continually show us what fools they are with the repeated elections of David Lammy on down, how is it that Social Justice Warriors like your good self will ensure that you get *better* socialists in Labour than the ones you ostensibly thought you were voting for with these current Labour socialists?
One of the great ironies of all this is that people who think government can solve all problems think that playing Santa Claus to everyone doesn't come with a price tag. Then when the government tries to address that price tag--here with a development proposal--the same people get up in arms.
Is there a secret set of even-more-statist Labour reps that I don't know about waiting in the wings? I am having a hard time imaging someone more statist that Lammy, but it's not my DNA so interested to learn what you will be doing to show us what fools you are not in the coming elections.
Please can anyone tell me, with a Labour MP and Labour's monopoly on councillors in the borough, why are there accusations of 'social cleansing' and such vitriol?. Is the Corbyn-empowered Labour party not dead against such policies?.
What, you think the warnings of social cleansing are unfounded? If so, please let us know of similar 'redevelopment' schemes that haven't resulted in less wealthy people being financially forced out of the area and communities dispersed.
What will happen to all the homeless families in temporary accommodation on the estates due to be demolished?
I don't know why the Labour Party are allowing this to happen. The MP and some principled Labour councillors are opposed.
I'm not sure where I suggested that the warnings of social cleansing are unfounded Peggy, I used the inverted commas because it is a term used in this thread. Your last two points reflect my original question.
The non sequitur response to your question says it all.
Very fitting, sadly a common practice on HOL.
So if I may conclude, the same unfortunate people at the brunt of social cleansing will still predominantly go and vote for the same councillors, MPs and a Mayor that are allowing or causing this to happen, one can demonstrate, but ten placards are not worth one ballot-paper, this seems to be a case of turkeys voting for Christmas.
