Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I'm reposting from Facebook, hoping to hear from some more parents from different children's centre nursery and nursery schools.

Anyone else with children at children's centre/nursery school nurseries?

I've just heard the fees will be increased at triangle from 41/day to 69.80/day, and they will not cater for under 2s at all.

This will probably mean the closure of these nurseries as most local people won't be able to afford these fees, or be able to return to work when these are no childcare options until 2 years old. There is a paucity of private options locally.

Personally I am gutted as with 3 children this will not make it financially viable for me to work, and I won't have any childcare options for my youngest.

Any ideas what can be done? If your child goes to a council run nursery what are the proposed fee rises? Do you have a parents forum?

Meanwhile Haringey Council with its utterly skewed and misguided priorities, hopes to subsidise the building of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Pouring money into the pockets of multi-millionaires.

I didn't hear about that but I'm sadly not surprised.

Council run nurseries are now significantly higher than local private provision. For parents who have children their it is very difficult as we don't want to move our children, but are faced with unaffordable fees, no childcare for younger siblings, and a likely closure soon. I'm very concerned, especially as there are very few private providers locally to fill the gap.
